Porcelain: Poem on the Downfall of my City by Durs Grünbein a new translation into English

Durs Grünbein, the acclaimed German poet, presents in his volume “Porcelain: Poem on the Downfall of my City” a unique lyrical engagement with the legacy of Dresden’s annihilation on 13th February 1945. It is one of the great elegies in post-war German poetry, now available in Karen Leeder’s equally acclaimed rendering in English. The virtual encounter between originator and translator is accompanied by reflections from the writer and porcelain-expert, Edmund de Waal, and the contemporary historian, Patrick Major – promising a stimulating event for anyone interested in the cultural legacy of Dresden in today’s literature.
