Dresden Trust re-dedicates its commitment to reconciliation

Following the vote on Britain’s membership of the European Union on 23 June 2016, Trustees of the Dresden Trust decided to reinforce their efforts to further reconciliation and harmonious relations between Britain and Dresden.

Our moral obligation to promote cooperation and friendship has become even more pressing. The outcome of the vote has no bearing on the activities of the Dresden Trust. We carry on as before, with redoubled vigour.

In the 1990s, the Dresden Trust raised over £1 million to help rebuild Dresden’s Frauenkirche, destroyed by British bombing in February 1945. Today the Trust sponsors an education programme for young people, co-finances a memorial green area in the city centre, and maintains regular contacts with Dresdners in the city, churches, civic society and all walks of life.
